.my janome 1008 - beginner's best friend.

Accidentally, I fell in love with the world of sewing. The freedom and ability to create your own dress, dictating your own fashion, is very attractive to me. So at the moment, I am expanding my knowledges and skills about pattern/dress-making. I am beyond ecstatic! I recently purchased the beautiful JANOME 1008, chose JANOME by the suggestion of my lovely friend, Daniele, whom almost certainly is in love with her very own JANOME. My current project is to finish the little black skirt and afterwards I need to start on my dream, light-cool-summer jacket.

Through another lovely friend of mine, Rosie, I have found burdastyle.com. Amazing web to browse for all dress-maker regardless of skill levels. Great source of patterns, some are free and some you have to pay. The wonderful thing about this website is the many tips/tricks on sewing in their "learning" page. The more I learn about sewing, the more I fall in love with fashion :D

.WISHLIST: on the hunt for??.

Every season there's one item that I see everywhere, as the "it" item. But my priority is to find one item that can last for a long while, I'll take forever anytime! I am currently on the hunt for an amazing wool-cashmere blend nude colored coat, just like the one in the picture above!
Winter season is coming to Melbourne, and in the middle of L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, I've noticed many trends coming for next spring/summer season. But for the time being may I just say, shorter hem lines means higher boots! I have seen this sky-high boots EVERYWHERE! Working for the Australian high-street stores, it is all too clear, higher-than-knee boots are in!

.INSPIRATIONS: my early muses.

Audrey Hepburn

Grace Kelly

My earliest memory of fashion is Audrey Hepburn, as Holly Golightly, came out of the bathroom in her LBD, she said, "How do I look?"
Thanks to my fraternal grandma, a stylish woman that she is, Breakfast at Tiffany's, happens to be her, and mine, favorite movie of all time. Audrey is my first fashion muse in many ways, her classic ballet flats and black turtleneck top/black capri in Funny Face. Her effortless chic, is a classic and everywomen will copy for years to come.

My second fashion memory is a little bit more complicated than a bag created by Hermes, the true-life Cinderella, Grace Kelly. This time, my mother introduce me to a beautiful land of Monaco. She almost tells me her generation's version of fairy-tale, except this time, the movie star is not just acting as a princess. When I'm older, I decided to watch one of her movie, High Society, her long chiffon/silk gown and her obvious beauty, took my breath away.

.OUTFIT: some mustard?.

One of the advantage of working for a clothing company,
apart from the discounts, is the fact that we are probably one of the first people that can see which trends coming into the stores, which trends sold and which ones flops.
Now here's where I stand divided!
